They say his hand was lost when a battle was fought for his ship. The battle was not with mere pirates thinking they could best him though. It was with a beast from beneath the sea, attempting to feed on the vessel and its entire crew! It was said he fought off a Kraken with his bare hands, only to lose one of them during its final lunge towards the ship, before the captain pushed it back into the sea.
Years later, battling through treacherous waters with those that would seek his demise, a cannon ball shot through the ships wall and into the deck right at his feet. It narrowly missed him, but the shards of wood that shot forth as the hunk of metal bore through the ship stuck through his left leg. Holding onto the wheel and maintaining his course, he steered his ship through the storm and watched as his enemies attempted to follow, crashing into the rocks and sinking in his wake. The stories say he used the very wood that severed his leg and shaped it into a peg to walk on, remembering the pain, and the victory, every day since.
With all of the stories though, none have included a name…soon, we will find out who he really is!
